Which 2012 MLB Import will have the most success?

The upcoming season will have some high profile Imports making their MLB Debuts. Most of the notable Imports are from Japan's NPB and a Cuban home run champion. Which 2012 MLB Import will have the most success?

I went with a dark horse, Aoki. He has Ichiro type skills, let's see if those skills translate to Ichiro type stats. He has been overlooked with all of the bigger name Imports also making their debut this season.

Kelzzy 04-02-2012 10:45 PM

Yu Darvish as well. I've seen the kid pitch, he's got potential.

Kelzzy 04-02-2012 10:46 PM

I think it would be easier if this question would be rephrased as: "Which pitcher and batter will have the best season.." Because I would go with Darvish as the pitcher and Aoki as the hitter

Then that would have been too easy :D, it's like the MVP topic, all players are included in the discussion.

Cespedes

Drew Smyly has put up a very formidable start to his rookie season in the Majors. he keeps this up and this kid might be special.

Rizzo44 08-15-2012 11:25 PM

It has easily been Cespedes. I had a feeling Darvish was too hyped.

JustinVerlander35 08-15-2012 11:26 PM

Cespedes is mine

O's Magic 08-16-2012 12:52 AM

I am not sure that Chen is the best, but he sure is putting together a great season. I have to give major props to Chen who was overshadowed by the likes of Darvish and Cespedes.

Here's an interesting comparison between Norichika Aoki and Yoenis Cespedes so far this year.

Didn't you already vote for Darvish? I'm the only one who voted for Aoki, no need to change your vote.

Yoenis Cespedes: 424 AB, .290 AVG, .351 OBP, .491 SLG, 93 SO

I still think Darvish has had the best year. Cepsedes, Aoki, and Chen have had big impacts, and Iwakuma has been pretty good as well, but Darvish has had a big time year. His stats looks less than impressive, but he plays in a great hitter's park, and he's been a bit unlucky. His record is good, and his strikouts and walks balance out imo. Value wise, I think Chen and Aoki have been the best, but there is a reason Darvish is making as much as he is. I think he has a real chance at improving from this year to next, and then maintaining a high level of production, if he stays healthy, unlike many NPB imports. He just has really great stuff.

Nebo86 09-17-2012 09:27 PM

All of the imports have held their own in the World's Best League. Initially, I thought Seattle was going to use Iwakuma in their Starting rotation, but opted instead to use him out of the bullpen. Iwakuma should have been MVP of the 2009 WBC, instead they gave it to Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Oh yeah, I forgot, though. Back before I said Darvish, but now I'm going with Cespedes. Is it not allowed to change votes or something?

Relax, I was just picking on you for waffling. Of course you can change your vote.

Rizzo44 09-21-2012 02:11 PM

I think it's been Cespedes. Darvish had a rough patch after a fantastic April and has been really good recently but in a year where Mike Trout has run away with the Rookie of the Year Award, Cespedes was still playing respectable enough in which he would be the frontrunner in nearly every other year.
