Rangers sign Murphy, final a arb-eligible player
The Rangers announced on Monday that they have agreed to terms on a one-year, $5.78 million contract for 2013 with outfielder David Murphy, the last player on their 40-man roster who was eligible for arbitration.
Murphy, 31, set career highs in nearly every offensive category last season while starting 125 games. He hit .304 with 15 homers and 61 RBIs in 147 games, ranking among the American League's leaders in on-base percentage (sixth, .380) and batting average (10th).
