Craig Gentry's first hit since July 29 -- a bases-loaded single in the top of the seventh -- was the big blow that allowed the Rangers to hang on to a 10-6 victory over the Yankees on Thursday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.

The Rangers -- after leading, 4-0 -- trailed, 5-4, going into the seventh, but an RBI double by David Murphy and Gentry's two-run single gave them the lead for good. It also allowed Texas to snap its three-game losing streak as well as an eight-game skid at Yankee Stadium that dated back to last year.

Rangers reliever Tanner Scheppers retired only one of the three batters he faced but still earned his first Major League win. He entered in relief of Derek Holland, who pitched brilliantly for five innings until the Yankees scored five off him in the bottom of the sixth.
