Rays Hellickson hit in head by ball, seemingly OK

Quote:
Jeremy Hellickson was hit in the head with a batted ball in the Rays' bullpen during batting practice prior to Wednesday's Rays-Tigers contest at Comerica Park.

According to Rays bullpen coach Stan Boroski, Hellickson was almost finished with a throwing session when they heard Tigers players yelling "heads up" as a ball left the park but Hellickson wasn't able to dodge the blow.

Paramedics were on the scene immediately. Hellickson was alert and responsive to questions, according to Boroski, and was taken to a nearby hospital for observation.
