Chris Carpenter Likely Not to Pitch in 2013
The St. Louis Cardinals GM John Mozeilak has announced the it's likely that Chris Carpenter will not pitch in 2013. Mozeliak said Carpenter still felt "zingers" and "shoulder pain" when throwing bullpens while training over the offseason.
Carpenter, 38, had Tommy John surgery last offseason and came back in late 2012 for the postseason, but maybe forced to retire due to this injury. If Carpenter does decide to hang up his baseball spikes for good, he will exit baseball with a career record of 144-94 and a career ERA of 3.76 over his 15 years spent in the big leagues.
This is horrible news for the Cardinals' rotation, a rotation that was hoping for Carpenter to come back and losing Kyle Lohse. Trevor Rosenthal and Shelby Miller maybe be viable options to replace the former Cardinals ace.
