Braden Looper, RHP (6-5, 4.12) @
Dan Haren, RHP (7-2, 1.58)
Scouting Report:
Cardinals: Looper tied a season high with 11 hits allowed in his last start and saw his ERA climb over 4.00 after giving up six runs in as many innings to the Angels. Looper fell into too many hitter's counts against the Angels and they made him pay, while causing more problems for him when he was pitching out of the stretch with their baserunning distractions. Looper struck out just one batter, tying a season low, and he wasn't producing the ground balls as consistently as he does when he's on.
A's: Haren dominated once again in his last start, firing seven scoreless innings against the Giants on Saturday, an outing that gave him his seventh straight win. He's yet to face the Cardinals, the team that traded him to Oakland.

Todd Wellemeyer, RHP (2-0, 4.79) @
Lenny DiNardo, LHP (2-2, 1.22)
Scouting Report:
Cards: Wellemeyer lasted 5 1/3 innings in his last start, allowing four earned runs on seven hits in a win over the Angels. The right-hander walked only two and, with the exception of one inning, kept the Angels at bay. A steady light rain forced Wellemeyer to clean his cleats often, but it might have also impacted the Angels' running game. The bottom line is Wellemeyer, who had spent his entire career as a reliever until the Cards signed him, has had two decent starts and a not-so-good no-decision in the three outings he's made since he was acquired.
A's: DiNardo will make his fourth start for the A's and they couldn't have asked for much more than they have gotten in the first three. He has allowed one earned run in 17 1/3 innings as a starter and has allowed only that earned run in his last 24 innings. DiNardo blanked the Giants for six innings in his last outing on June 11.

Anthony Reyes, RHP (0-8, 6.08) @
Joe Kennedy, LHP (2-4, 3.50)
Scouting Report:
Cardinals: Reyes pitched very well during a brief stint at Triple-A Memphis, and the discombobulated situation with the big league rotation made it all but automatic that he be recalled. The club wants to see him consistently locate the ball down in the strike zone, which he was doing in the Minors but struggled to do earlier in the year with the big club.
A's: Kennedy had his shortest outing of the month of June, going five innings and allowing four runs in an extra-innings loss to the Astros. Kennedy had notched quality starts in six of his previous seven starts before his Interleague meeting with Houston.
