Figgins is in CF during Spring Training
I have a deep seated hatred for the way the M's do things. What I have noticed, is that I start to turn those feelings of hatred towards the player that they are manipulating. It is not fair.
It has been Figgins for the past year or so.
Figgins was a mistake from the beginning; because the team Front Office was trying to buy another Ichiro for half the money. Once Figgins went sour, it has only gotten worse. They did not want to buy another big bat after the Sexon debacle; so they tried to go cheap the other way. Figgins is the opposite of a long ball hitter. It was suppose to be two Ichiros, back to back, interchanging, each hitting .350 and stealing 50 bases. The people in the Front Office were suppose to be able to flaunt their contracts in their players' faces, and put their positions in doubt (by threatening to platoon them at DH). The mistake is simple. Somebody was trying to play gawd, and pressure Ichiro at the same time. If you follow the M's then you know who it was. The question I always ask myself is: why?
I just wrote a blog about the time the M's took Mike Morse, a lifetime Infielder all the way through AAA, and put him in the Out Field; specifically in Ichiro's RF. They gave him a month's training and said "go"... It was suppose to be occult magic, and instead it got Morse hurt... and Ichiro exhausted. They moved Ichiro to CF and the change made a ton of extra work for Ichiro (who is a perfectionist). A week before they fired their VP and their Coach, they moved Ichiro back to Right Field, and told the Press that it was because they were good people who only wanted the best for Ichiro........... BS.
Ichiro came back the next year with an ulcer and missed some time. It served the M's FO right for trying to mix things up. Morse healed by the next year, and was immediately traded to the Nats for a set of wooden teeth. The trade, to the worst team in baseball at the time; was meant to embarrass Morse. They represented him as a utility IF and OF, a daily guy; who somehow "deserved" to be in the OF. The M's represented him to a coach they had just fired (the Nats picked him up), and he took them up on it. Morse, for the next few years, hung in there with the Nats, until the M's were wishing they had not been so evil.
All that Morse did was sign autographs, and make friends with fans for the M's; and and set a team record for Spring Training. In return they ruined him. Last year he hit .368 with 9 home runs during Spring Training. The Nats put him at 1B last year, and he hit the long ball until they had to give him the DH this year. But,,, this year they embarrassed him by trying to make him an Out Fielder again after he had earned something more. I only ask why, but in my heart I know that it is the wicked occult magic that the Nats are trying to use.
The curse of the Mariners is on Figgins now, and judging from what it has done to Morse; it is an evil evil curse.
