The Padres placed Orlando Hudson on the 15-day disabled list on Friday and promoted infielder Logan Forsythe from Triple-A Tucson to take his place.
The move with Hudson, who is out with a left groin strain, is retroactive to Thursday. This is his second trip to the DL this month, after a right hamstring strain landed him there from May 4-19.
Injuries aside, Hudson's first year with the Padres hasn't been stellar. The 33-year-old is hitting .217 with five doubles, a triple and 10 stolen bases.Forsythe, 24, was called up for the first time in his career on May 4 -- the same day Hudson last went down. He has gone 0-for-7 in six big league games, and has made one start. He was hitting .270 with five home runs and six doubles for Tucson.
