SAN DIEGO -- Jake Peavy's next start has been moved back to Monday night so that the San Diego Padres can allow their ace to recover from an upper respiratory infection.
Peavy was scheduled to pitch Sunday against Arizona, but will now face the Diamondbacks on Monday night in the final game of San Diego's seven-game homestand.
Rookie Josh Geer will move up to take Peavy's spot on Sunday.
In his last start Tuesday against Philadelphia, Peavy left after just one inning when he was too weak to continue. The right-hander allowed four runs in the shortest start of his career.
