The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced the 2007 spring training broadcast schedule for radio, television and online webcasts.
A total of 12 games will be broadcast on the club's new flagship radio station, WPGB 104.7 FM, beginning with the Pirates Grapefruit League opener on Thursday, March 1 against the Cincinnati Reds at McKechnie Field.
In addition, FSN Pittsburgh will televise two games this season from Florida. On Saturday, March 17, when the Pirates host the Minnesota Twins at 1:05 p.m. and the Spring Training finale on Saturday, March 31, against the Twins in Fort Myers at 1:05 p.m.
The Pirates will also broadcast six games to subscribers via the ballclub's official website, The Official Site of The Pittsburgh Pirates: Homepage
. The first webcast will take place on Tuesday, March 6, when the Pirates host the Philadelphia Phillies at McKechnie Field.
"With the success the team experienced in the second half of last season, coupled with the team's offseason moves, our fans are energized about the upcoming season. We look forward to bringing them all the action from Spring Training through a variety of ways," said Tim Schuldt, Pirates Vice President and Chief Marketing and Sales Officer. "In addition to the game broadcasts, our partners have expanded other Pirates related programming that will allow fans to hear directly from our players, coaches and broadcasters."
FSN will broadcast daily Spring Training reports beginning on Friday, February 16, special Spring Training editions of Inside Pirates Baseball and a special one-hour presentation Under the Lights: Making of a Franchise, hosted by FSN's Rob King. The show is a behind-the-scenes look at how the Pirates evaluate talent during the Arizona Fall League and the winter league in the Dominican Republic. Under the Lights: Making of a Franchise will be telecast on Sat., March 17 and Sat., March 31 at 4:00 PM or immediately following that day's spring training game on FSN.
Clear Channel has also committed to bringing the Pirates baseball Spring Training experience to fans through a variety of programming across all six of its stations, including WPGB 104.7 FM, WDVE 102.5 FM, WBGG 970 AM, WXDX 105.9 FM, WKST 96.1 FM and WWSW 94.5 FM. Each station will broadcast live from Bradenton, Florida at various times during Spring Training.
