A's A's to San Jose?

Quote:
The framework is reportedly in place for A's GM Billy Beane to remain with the club through 2019. Such lengthy extensions point to further optimism in the A's upper ranks about the team's chances of getting approval for a new stadium in San Jose. Considering how publicly frustrated Beane has been about the limitations of the Coliseum, both in terms of attracting free agents and in terms of income generated, I cannot imagine him staying with the club that long without a good idea that a new stadium is on the horizon. Of course, there could be plenty of language in any contract that might nullify everything in the event the team does not get approval to move.

Despite the rich history and somewhat loyal fan base, the MLB's time in Oakland is becoming limited in my opinion. Oakland in general has not been a very good sports town for years, and it's slowing waning on the usually consistent Athletics with lower attendance numbers and a dwindling fan base. I don't think all the blame should be placed on Beane, but rather ownership. Stick them in San Jose for about three years, and then if it doesn't work, demand to go back to Oakland and a new stadium.

If they get moved to San Jose it will be because there is a bigger fan base there and they will have a new stadium. Why would they demand to go back to a place where they are failing.

The question is: How long would it take for a stadium to be built? Where would San Jose's minor league team relocate to, since Oakland would be moving there? And finally, what would the reception be like for the long term, since short term would most likely be a success.

I want them to move to San Jose.. nice place you know. They would also have the San Jose Sharks.. so it would be a sports city, so to say...

I agree on the new stadium. I've been saying that about the A's for so long.
