Matt Harvey rehab similar to another former Met great?

Not sure if it was the same injury, but Nolan Ryan experienced elbow problems and was told he should go under the knife. His rehab worked, do you think Harvey's will?

Who knows. A lot different times in baseball and in the medical field. I truly think he will have Tommy John done. He's young, and that operation is almost an everyday thing at this point in baseball. With the amount of pitchers that have had it and come back just as good as before, I think he will have it done instead of rehabbing it and hurting it every worse if the rehab doesn't work.

I agree that it's so common that it may be silly not to just get it done and nip it in the bud since science has come along so far. That's why I posted this, was curious if anyone else was thinking the same way.

Wonder what they saw on his MRIs or whatever they were looking at that caused him to decide not to go forward or if he thinks this way he'll miss less time.

Think if someone told you that you could likely come back, but it would be 12-14 months absolute best case scenario and more likely 18-24 months to be 100% if you ever even make it back to 100%. Scary proposition and it involves a lot of work to rehab even if you go under the knife.
