Ugh! I didn't watch this game and elected to watch the BET awards instead. Good think Lo Duca appealed his suspension, otherwise we wouldn't have hung tough like we did. Oh well, we will get you guys tomorrow.

Glavine gets the call against Cardinals
06/27/2007 12:25 AM ET
By Lauren Kobylarz / MLB.com

There's only four wins left on Tom Glavine's climb to 300 wins, and the Mets are hoping that number will be cut to just three Wednesday night.
Glavine will look to notch win No. 297 with his start against the Cardinals at Shea Stadium in the Mets' third contest of a four-game series. A win for Glavine would also give the Mets a needed boost after losing the second game of the series, 5-3, on Tuesday night. The Mets are 4-1 against St. Louis this season, and 1-1 for the current series.

If Glavine had won all of his four starts in June so far, Wednesday night would have been his chance to clinch the 300th win of his career. The veteran left-hander, however, is 1-2 this month after a string of troubling starts that began in the end of May.

Things started to turn around for Glavine, though, in his last outing. Glavine is coming off his best start of the season after beating Oakland on Friday night, winning for the first time in six starts. Against the A's, the left-hander matched his season-high strikeout count at five, pitching into the ninth inning.

If Glavine's prior start against St. Louis this season is any indication of how he'll fare on Wednesday night, he'll be on his way up. Glavine defeated the Cardinals on Opening Day in the Mets' 6-1 win. The left-hander pitched six innings and allowed just one earned run in the victory.

The Cards will counter with right-hander Anthony Reyes, who will make his debut against the Mets and his third start since his return from the Minor Leagues on June 16. Reyes will look to record his first win of the season, as he's 0-9 in his 11 starts so far.

Pitching matchup
NYM: LHP Tom Glavine (6-5, 4.38 ERA)
Glavine is 19-6 with a 3.55 ERA in 36 starts against St. Louis for his career.

STL: RHP Anthony Reyes (0-9, 6.64 ERA)
In his last outing, Reyes recorded his ninth loss of the season, pitching just 4 1/3 innings in the Cardinals' 6-0 loss against Philadelphia. The winless right-hander has four strikeouts and four walks in his last 9 1/3 innings, and has never faced a Mets batter.

Player to watch
Albert Pujols is on a hot streak this month, reaching base in 22 of 23 games in June. Against Glavine, the first baseman is batting .409 in 22 at-bats, with three RBIs for his career. Pujols is 0-for-2 against the left-hander this season, but is batting .300 overall, with 16 home runs and 44 RBIs.

If Glavine throws like he did in his last start then the Cards won't score very many runs.
