Jorge Sosa allowed just six baserunners during eight shutout innings Friday. (Paul Connors/AP)

Mets:
Quote:

A pair of solo homers from David Wright and Carlos Delgado were all the Mets could muster off Chad Durbin for the first eight frames. Enter Jorge Sosa, who came to the rescue with eight brilliant shutout innings as the Mets halted a four-game losing streak in the series opener in Detroit.
Tigers:
Quote:

Chad Durbin was good enough to win the series opener with the Mets, holding his foes to just two solo homers in his first eight innings. However, Mets starter Jorge Sosa stopped the Tigers in their tracks, as Detroit was held scoreless for the first time this season.

Sosa's been on fire, and Wright and Delgado's bats have been wide awake since their long drawn out slumps.

great win for the mets tonight, hopefully this gets them back on track.

I was at the other stadium in NY tonight.

We lose this one by the final score of7-8

Mets:
Quote:

Oliver Perez had one of his worst outings of the year, and Guillermo Mota had a tough day as well, but the Mets, down by five in the sixth, refused to go down without a fight, as they rallied to within a single run in the eighth before succumbing to the Tigers.
Tigers:
Quote:

Jeremy Bonderman is still undefeated on the season, but his most recent victory didn't come easily. By the sixth inning on Saturday afternoon, the Tigers had built a five-run lead, but the Mets fought back to make Bonderman and his teammates squirm a little.

I'm getting real pist off with Glavine, he has been pitching like crap his last few starts. We are getting smacked 8-3. Ugh!

now its a plague and the overall team slump has affected some starting pitching.

metsfanscott 06-10-2007 03:19 PM

will the bats lead a major comeback today??

Kitty 06-10-2007 03:38 PM

We just gave up another run! 11-6 Tigers..in the bottom of the 6th. We won't be able to catch up if we keep giving up runs.

Mets:
Quote:

If Tom Glavine still harbored hopes of securing his 296th career win on Sunday afternoon at Comerica Park, those hopes were nixed in the fifth inning when the Tigers touched the Mets lefty and reliever Aaron Sele for six runs to put the game out of reach.

Tigers:
Quote:

Andrew Miller was starting just his second big-league game, and against crafty veteran Tom Glavine, to boot. But when a rookie starter gets the kind of effusive support the Tigers offered on Sunday, notching his second career win can seem easy.

metsfanscott 06-10-2007 08:40 PM

a tough series in which there were some good things by the mets but overall after the shutout, twin beatdowns.
