Dave Williams will make his Mets' debut tonight, taking Pedro Martinez's spot in the rotation. The lefthander was acquired May 25 from the Reds, along with $500,000 to cover half of his remaining salary, for minor-league pitcher Robert Manuel.

Williams, 27, went 2-2 with a 3.68 ERA in seven appearances with Triple-A Norfolk. He went 2-3 with a 7.20 ERA in eight starts for Cincinnati earlier this season.

Heath Bell was sent to the minors to make room for Williams.
