does anyone else like going to the minors over th majors

i was thinking. I have gone to allot of games this year for the louisville bats and in previous years a few Cincinnati reds games. I have to say i think i like going to see the bats more.

excluding the hour long drive to Cincinnati and price her is why i like it better

1 When going to the reds i have to park in Kentucky and walk on the bridge over the ohio its so congested. 2 its too crowded at the reds game. its much more relaxing in the bats game and not up tight. 3 The fans are much better to be around. My dad and i joke that its the only place a pitcher can give up 3 to 5 runs in an inning and people still clap for him when he leaves the field. there are no jackass fans screaming and yelling and cursing. 4 i like seeing the up and comers before they hit the majors and cheering for them before they become something. i remember watching fraiser and chapman even Voto play for the bats then it was wtching them on tv. louisville slugger field is a great ballpark too. not too big not too small.

anyone feel the same way?

The Minors is a lot, LOT, cheaper then the pro's. And every guy is trying to do his best to impress this scouts in the crowd. In the MLB, you have some lazy guys who don't care anymore and will jog to a ball and let it drop. Not all of them, but some. The Minors, everyone is hustling their *** off. I wouldn't say that the fans are better. Maybe for you, but for me the fans are pretty much the same as the MLB, if not worse.

Sadly, our university over here decided to be a d*ck and take away the field from our triple-A team.. now we have no minor teams.

I've seen more than a few Minor League games over the years and most of what you say is true, but... The quality of play, even in Triple-A, vs the Majors leaves me preferring an MLB game... (and as a fan of the game, I don't applaud a pitcher who gives up 5 runs - but I don't "boo" him either - I simply stay quiet and let him go to his dugout/club house/dressing room and do what he needs to do to improve his next

What you said is basically true but I still prefer the Majors... I grew up going to MLB games exclusively and by the time I went to my first Minor League game, I viewed the experiences (because I've gone to about a dozen Minor League games over the past 30 years) more as a day at a State Fair than a ballgame... They're fun but not as enjoyable to me...

My favorite part about them is how cheap they are. It's like how the Bigs used to be, only 10 bucks to get in and watch a game.

i love watching the majors too but all the crap i have to deal with its not worth it compared to the louisville bats. i prefer a nice relaxing day at the park and i get that more out of the bats than driving up to see the reds

Going to a Rangers or Astros game here is OK, but I prefer going to the Round Rock Express (Rangers' AAA)! The cost is by far the better deal, and the players have to walk right past the fans in LF to get down to the field. Many stop to chat and sign autographs. Or MGR Jones and coach Spike Owen are great to shoot the breeze with. You never get that kind of face time at an MLB park. I have been to dozens of MLB games in St. Louis (Old Busch), Cleveland (the Jake), Minneapolis (Metrodome, or giant inflated toilet as one local sports guy called it), Arlington (The Ball Park), and Houston (Minute Maid Park), but I really like the MiLB environment better. Nothing against the level of play at the big league level, just like the minors better.

I go to a lot of Express games, and when I lived in Ames, IA I used to get tickets through my Little League to go to Des Moines and see the Iowa Cubs play back in the late 80s and early 90s. As a Cards fan, I won't say I was a huge fan, but I do like the I-Cubs! Just not when they get called up! But my favorite guy down there was Mark Grace, who went on to have a great career in Chicago and Phoenix.

In Round Rock, they have half priced Tuesdays this summer, where I can get $7 tickets to sit right next to the visitor's dugout down the first base line! So I go to see Memphis, Des Moines, Albuquerque and New Orleans (buddy from there, we ride out motorcycles down - free parking for bikes right up front too!). On Tuesdays, they are wearing the old 1959 uniforms of the Austin Senators, the Texas League champs of that year. That is awesome as well! I have seen so many major league players either before they were called up, or while down on rehab, or just on their way back down the chain. It is too fun!

Minor League Major Fan

I'm a big fan of Minor League baseball. Season ticket holder for Stockton Ports (A's High A). It's perfect for bringing the kids and very cost effective. Hard to beat the MLB though, I just need to find a way to win the lotto so I can afford tickets behind homeplate to every game.

I think that minor league games are indeed fun. The fans are passionate, the seats are pretty cheap, and it's not a bad baseball game. So I'm into it.
