Lots of Minors teams below AAA
There are always a ton of Minor League teams in your area, and most people do not even know it. We have the Eugene Emeralds, the Kaiser Volcanoes, the Tri-city Dirt Devils, the Boise Hawks. I bet I can't even name all of them in my own State. I have seen the Portland Beavers play the Tacoma Raineers about six times, until the Beavers lost their stadium to MLS soccer. I absolutely loved those guys in the PCL, where the pitching is bad and the hitting is awesome. Minor leaguers do a ton of stuff for the youth leagues and the community. Luke Carlin talked my son into practicing as Catcher when he was 7, and Jose Castro taught him to hit lefty like Ichiro. Mike Morse signed his infield glove, and Tommy Sandt told him that School is always more important than baseball. We watched Adam Jones on the way up, and saw a half a dozen guys on the Raineers that were called up that year. Unfortunately, now the Beavs are in San Diego and it is 300 miles to the closest AAA team. There is something about the Seattle area that makes the players limit their time in front of their fans and in their community. I doubt we will ever have it as good as we did with the Beavs in town.
