A quick turnaround didn't slow down the surging Marlins.
Ricky Nolasco minimized the damage in 5 1/3 innings, while driving in a run, and Greg Dobbs delivered a two-run double in Miami's 5-3 comeback victory over the Chicago Cubs in front of 23,168 at Marlins Park on Thursday afternoon.
Because of their retractable roof, the Marlins are able to play early afternoon games on getaway day. After claiming a 9-1 win on Wednesday night, Miami got off to a quick start in the series finale, and they put the finishing touches on a three-game sweep and a four-game winning streak.
Nolasco (2-0) scattered eight hits while allowing three runs, as he notched his 66th career win. The right-hander is two victories shy of Dontrelle Willis' franchise mark of 68.
The benefits of the new ballpark came into play. The roof was shut on an 82-degree afternoon, and the players have peace of mind, knowing games will be played without weather interruptions. Rarely would a mid-April game be played in the daytime at the Marlins old home, Sun Life Stadium.
