SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Royals' pitching rotation was finalized on Wednesday when right-hander Felipe Paulino was placed on the 15-day disabled list with forearm tightness near the elbow.
That means that right-hander Luis Mendoza will be the fourth starter and left-hander Danny Duffy will fill the fifth spot. They'll pitch the first two games of the season's second series in Oakland.
Previously, manager Ned Yost had announced that left-hander Bruce Chen would pitch the season opener against the Los Angeles Angels at Anaheim, followed by right-hander Luke Hochevar and left-hander Jonathan Sanchez in the next two games of the series.
