I think this is a good deal.

Ok, we don't have a closer, but Lidge created more problems than he solved.

He's a FA at the end of 2008, so we get something for him. Costanzo will have 2 years to develop into our starting third baseman to replace Wiggington, Bourn will be our leadoff center fielder and possibly meaning Luke Scott will be traded.

I'm liking the questions he's answering so far. On paper, we just got a Willy T back... from the left side of the plate.

Yep. Lidge ended up being an average closer. Those are a dime a dozen. Evidently, Wade knew he had trade value, whereas PuPu did not, or just couldn't see the forest for the trees.

I dont think this deal makes the Astros any better or any worse but it lets them move on.

That was obviously the one answered question.

Unanswered questions created..

Utility infield backup (we have none signed)?
Closer (I doubt they go with Qualls and Sarfate isn't proven)?

We filled a hole that wasn't necessarily needed while we created holes in two other needed positions.

Not saying the deal was good or bad. Just hoping Wade has got some other things in the works or some other rabbits ready to pull out of the hat.

Plus, more importantly, you all have no booty to stare at anymore!

Ransom couldn't do any worse than Brunt at the plate and his defense looked good.

And Lidge was better? This was a question BEFORE the trade.

We'll just pick another one to stare at. Good booties in professional sports are a dime a dozen.

Is this a good trade? Only time will tell. Don't forget the Phillies are another NLC team. We might have to face Lidge next season. At least we know how he pitches.

And we can kiss Luke Scott goodbye (if only I could ). He'll be in the next trade we hear about.

Love the updated avatar, sis!

Zero backup infielders right now and you say Cody Ransom. Is that your final answer?

Lidge had great numbers this past season as a reliever. Qualls and/or Sarfate didn't exactly put too much time in as a closer so we can't really compare who was better. If you want to go that route though, you are making my point in that we still don't have a good closer.

Do the booties look any better in HDTV?
