Chris Carpenter and his chances in the Hall
Do you think Chris Carpenter is a future hall of Famer? Yes or no? And why?
No, he has been injured way too much and don't meet the Hall of fame credentials in my opinion.
Nope.
Right now he is not. He is pushing 40 and unless he finishes extremely strong I will have to pass.
His candidacy is not a total joke as he won a Cy Young and also finished 2nd and 3rd in the voting in other years. In addition, he was the ace on some Cardinal teams that won the World Series and I don't know if there was a pitcher I'd have rather had pitching for my team in the postseason last year. However, if he retired today I don't think it's enough. |
Good pitcher, not a HoFer
Does he have any chance of becoming a HoF pitcher?
He currently only has 144 wins and 92 loses. That leaves him well below the 300 wins which I don't think should be the bench mark for the Hall anymore. His ERA is good at 3.76, but still not nearly enough to get him into the Hall.
Good point right there, Jazzy. I would think you either need a really low ERA or a high amount of wins, or both, to get in the hall.
