Let Pete Rose into the H.O.F.
I had the privilege to see Mr. Rose play, and it was just that, a privelage. He played with more hustle, and intensity than 99.999% of the players today. Never once did I see him jog, or not run out even a routine out at first. Like most players of today do. He ran every play out right to the end. He was the last player/manager that the game will ever see. He was the last of an era of players to play the game right. Yes, what he did was wrong, but so is doping. We have seen a staggering number of players caught, and accused of that. If any player caught, or accused of steroid use is inducted into the baseball H.O.F. before Pete Rose then baseball, and all of its writers, executives, and owners are just a bunch of hypocrites. There is no doubt in my mind that Pete Rose should be in the Hall. Baseball was everything to him. He has suffered more than anyone but himself could possibly imagine. Anyone who has ever seen Pete Rose play the game will know this. They will also know that him not being in the Hall of Fame is a travesty of justice to our countries beloved game. This is a country of believers, and second chances. Pete Rose should be given a second chance. He bet on baseball. He didn't cheat the game by using illegal drugs to gain an advantage over other players, or to gaudily increase his numbers. He didn't need to. His numbers speak for themselves. Ask any player of his era, or even today if Pete Rose should be in the hall of fame and they will all say Yes. Then ask them if the Steroid era players, the ones who are known offenders should be allowed, and they will all say No. Why do you think that is?
