That was kind of ridiculous. These guys keep getting more and more athletic.

I agree, it seems like the Steroids policy has flushed out most the Meat Monsters of old.

Minor League Baseball

The MLB.com's Prospect Watch had been updated and Gavin Cecchini has been bumped up to #6 in the Mets organization:
Cecchini had a .240/.321/.629 slash line in his 2012 MiLB season

Carlos Correa has moved up to #30 on the top 100, #5 on the top 10 Shortstops and perhaps #2 on the Astros organization:
Correa had a slash line .204/.235/.245 in 51 PA for the Carolina Giants in the 2012-13 Puerto Rican Winter League

Minor League Baseball MLB.com's Prospect Watch notes

Carlos Correa is listed #2 in the Astros organization on the 2013 MLB.com's Prospect Watch:

Quote:
Scouting Grades (present/future): Hit: 3/5 | Power: 4/6 | Run: 6/5 | Arm: 7/7 | Field: 5/6 | Overall: 5/6
Don’t think the selection of Correa as the top overall pick in the 2012 Draft was simply a money-saver for the Astros. Sure, it allowed them to be more creative with later selections, but Correa was one of the most talented players in the Draft class. He can flat out play shortstop, with at least above-average tools defensively, from his range and actions to his plus arm. While his glove is ahead of his overall offensive skillset right now, he’s far from being a defense-only guy. He’s an above-average runner now, though he might slow down a tick over time. He has the chance to have above-average power at a premium position. The biggest question is over how much he’ll hit. Even if he’s just an average hitter, with his other tools, that makes him an elite shortstop in the future, and with off-the-charts makeup and work ethic, it might be a mistake to underestimate what his ceiling is.
Gavin Cecchini:

Quote:
Scouting Grades* (present/future): Hit: 4/6 | Power: 2/4 | Run: 5/5 | Arm: 5/5 | Field: 5/6 | Overall: 5/6
If Cecchini needs advice about the travails of Minor League life, he can ask his older brother, Garin, who was a fourth-round pick of the Red Sox in 2010. Of course his father, who doubled as his high school coach, well-prepared him for the path ahead. Gavin is a scrappy middle infielder who should be able to play shortstop long-term thanks to good range, a solid arm and plus instincts. Those instincts also helps his solid average speed play up on the basepaths. He projects to be a good all-around hitter with the ability to make consistent contact, even if it’s not with that much power. He plays the game the right way and that plus makeup should help him move up the organizational ladder.

Astros prospect Correa voted into Futures Game, Shortstop wins first Finalists ballot, added to World team roster

Quote:
It came down to the wire, but Carlos Correa is heading to the Futures Game thanks to the first-ever Futures Finalists vote.

With the final two spots in the Sirius XM All-Star Futures Game -- one each for the United States and World teams -- decided by fans in online voting for the first time, Correa, the Astros shortstop prospect, and Javier Baez, the Cubs prospect at the same position, were locked in a tight battle throughout the voting process. But it was Correa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 Draft, who narrowly defeated Baez, the No. 9 overall selection in 2011, by one percent. Rangers infield prospect Rougned Odor finished in third among the World Team candidates.

Correa was excited, obviously, about playing in a Major League park like Citi Field with a talented group of his peers. But the nod meant even more to him considering it came from the fans, particularly given the support he received from his native Puerto Rico.

"The fans went crazy over there. It was all over the news. Everybody was voting over there," Correa said. "I heard from my family that everybody would see them in the malls, in the restaurants, wherever they'd see them, and say, 'We're voting for for your son. We're supporting him,' so that's great for my family. It makes them feel like the country really cares about baseball and about me.

"They trust me and what I can do. They gave me their support, so I want to be out there and do my best at the game and make the fans proud and happy."
