Tigers Torii Hunter signs two-year deal with Detroit Tigers

Quote:

DETROIT — A person with knowledge of the negotiations says free agent outfielder Torii Hunter has agreed to a two-year deal with the Detroit Tigers. The person, who spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because no announcement has been made, says the deal is pending a physical.

The 37-year-old Hunter hit a career-best .313 last season for the Los Angeles Angels. He’ll be able to fill a corner outfield spot for the AL champion Tigers, taking care of a major offseason priority for Detroit.

Hunter hit 16 home runs and had 92 RBIs in 2012. He could also help the Tigers improve their defense as they chase their first World Series title since 1984. Detroit was swept by San Francisco in this year’s series.

SO HAPPY! I've always like Torii. Glad he is a member of my squad.

Now I'm definitely going to root for Detroit if the Angels fall short. I love Torii Hunter. I'm going to the Big A when he makes his return. I knew we weren't going to keep him and I had a feeling he was going to end up in Texas or New York. Glad he ended up in Detroit.

He said that the Angles didn't offer him anything for like five weeks.

Yeah, I knew he wasn't coming back. He said the Angels had other plans.

Torii should look good in a Tigers uniform.

He's going to be a real nice addition to the Tigers. Really nice. He can take Austin Jackson role, or they can battle it out. Having two players battle out for one posistion really brings out the best and contributes a ton to the team. Great pick up by the Tigers.

Kelzzy, are you joking with me? Hunter isn't going to threaten Austin Jackson's role. You're dreaming.

No. Austin Jackson will stay in CF. Torii will be in right or left.
