By giving up the game-winning run in the 10th inning on Sunday, Rockies reliever Manuel Corpas likely punched his ticket back to Triple-A Colorado Springs, the Denver Post
With his slider hanging above the plate too long, Corpas has been charged with three of the Rockies' last five losses. His ERA has risen to 6.75. He no longer looks like a dominant late-game reliever, and the time for talk and off-day adjustments appear to be over.
"Everything that can be said to Manny has been said. Everything," manager Clint Hurdle told the newspaper. "He's well aware of what he needs to do. We have laid it out in black and white. He's had a month-and-a-half of good pitching in the last seven months in the big leagues. We need better than that for him to stay here. He's well aware of that."
Corpas appears perplexed at what's gone wrong.
"I'm trying to do my job; I don't want to go down," he said. "I don't know what happened. My confidence is OK, but I don't know what happened."
