Cubs Cubs working on extension for Castro

Quote:
The Cubs are progressing toward a long-term contract extension with shortstop Starlin Castro, according to multiple reports.

CSNChicago.com was first to report on the club's conversations with the two-time All-Star. Castro's agent, Paul Kinzer, told the website that "Starlin loves being a Chicago Cub and would like to play there his entire career. ... We have been talking about a long-term deal."

Castro cannot become a free agent until after the 2016 season. The Cubs would be buying out his remaining arbitration years and at least two years of free agency, should the extension be for six or more years, as CSNChicago.com reported.

I hope Theo and Jed don't get ahead of themselves. Castro is a very talented person who has the potential to really make something happen whenever he comes up to bat, but I feel he is also very immature and needs some growing up to do too.

Mitch Williams just stated the same thing on MLB Tonight. Castro needs to become more mature to receive the extension.

I agree that he is having a good time, but when he isn't paying attention and his back is to the play when the pitcher is pitching, he needs to get his head in the game.
