Wood expected to retire after one last outing

Kerry Wood, who burst onto the scene with the Cubs in 1998, pitching a 20-strikeout game, apparently wants to appear in one more game, after which he is expected to announce his retirement.
"It's one of those things where you know," Cubs manager Dale Sveum said Friday of Wood's decision. "It's the most difficult thing you ever have to deal with. Everybody has to do it. It's a time in your life where you make that decision."
