Jeremy Guthrie was hospitalized on Monday with a viral infection, and the O's Opening Day starter could miss his next outing on Wednesday.
"Right now he's still tentatively scheduled to pitch on Wednesday," manager Buck Showalter said of Guthrie, who ran a fever on Sunday that spiked back up. "We'll see what the next couple of days bring. We'll probably make a decision on that [Tuesday]."
Guthrie was not expected to be at the field Monday, when the Orioles opened their home season against the Tigers. He picked up his first win on Friday, stifling the Rays with eight scoreless innings. Should Guthrie not be able to start Wednesday, the team will go with swingman Brad Bergesen.Showalter said pitching coach Mark Connor was planning on giving Bergesen a light work day so that he could be ready Wednesday if needed. Bergesen is the team's fifth starter, but given some early off-days, the initial thought by the O's was he wouldn't get a start until April 10.

The O's got off to a good start and then health problems seem to have popped up

And I was thinking about Hit when the Yankees defeated the O's! Sorry Hit, but the Yankees need all the W's that team can get!
