Orioles Gregg and Orioles finalize $10 million deal

Quote:
BALTIMORE (AP)—The Baltimore Orioles have finalized a $10 million, two-year contract with right-handed reliever Kevin Gregg(notes).

The 32-year-old went 2-6 with a 3.51 ERA and 37 saves with the Toronto Blue Jays last season. He is expected to compete with Koji Uehara(notes) for the job as Baltimore’s closer.

Gregg boosts the back end of a bullpen that lost setup man David Hernandez(notes), who was traded to Arizona. The Orioles are also uncertain about the status of Alfredo Simon(notes), who faces involuntary manslaughter charges in the Dominican Republic.

Baltimore will be Gregg’s fourth team, following the Angels, Florida and the Chicago Cubs. He is 25-33 with 122 saves in 150 opportunities over eight seasons.

My god this is a gross overpayment but im loving the compensations picks for the Jays haha.

Hard for me to watch this guy last season. He has one good pitch which is the fastball which he often continuously pounds even when it gets him into trouble and gives up far too many walks which always comes in bunches. I Remember one game Cito pulled him cause he gave up like three straight walks and Gregg was pissed off and stormed off the mound. Post game he said that as the closer he should have had some trust in him and Cito told reporters that he did so because he had a history of walking the whole team and couldnt let him do it again haha.

Anyways I hoping he plays well for you guys this season. Orioles are my favourite team after the Jays. I have some family down in maryland so I went to Camden and its absolutely beautiful. Only stadium Ive ever been besides Rogers but regardless known for being one the best stadiums.
Best of Luck this season, especially bececause we are the bottom feeders of the AL-East and gotta stick together lol.

The Blue Jays will be third this year. MARK IT DOWN.
I agree, I watched Gregg close out a few games against the Yankees this past season. The one he did fine, he walked a few guys but saved it. The next day he blew a three run lead. He reminds me a lot of Todd Jones. You would have a heartattack watching him save games. If there was a three run lead he would give up two runs and having the tying run at third and the winning run at second. But he always seemed to manage to work outta those jams and save the game.I remember his last season in 2008 he was a mess he blew more saves that year and cost us a lot of division games. That seemed to be his favorite time to blow saves.

Yah It was real nice. Experience in Rogers centre is absolutely horrible, like watching a game in a plastic container. Too bad I couldnt see Ripken play live. I think I visited the year after he retired.

Cal was some player that's for sure. But at least you were there where he played which is more than most of us can say!
