When Braves general manager Frank Wren called Matt Diaz this past offseason to inform him that it didn't appear he would be re-signed, the popular outfielder graciously said, "Don't forget about me."

As Diaz spent the first five months of this season with the Pirates, Wren was among the many members of the Braves organization who had not forgotten what Diaz had provided on the field and in their clubhouse over the previous five seasons.

While spending the past couple weeks attempting to acquire a right-handed bat to enhance his bench, Wren was unable to ignore the fact that he was essentially looking for somebody to provide what Diaz had given Atlanta over the previous few years.
