Braves Uggla seeks to up hit streak to 32 vs. Big Z

Quote:
Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano hasn't been himself in his last two starts. And yet he's come away with two wins after giving up four runs in 12 innings. Now, he's looking for a way to bottle that result and to improve on the parts of his game he can control, a frightening prospect for Atlanta in Friday's series opener.

"For some reason, the last two outings ... I've been fighting with my mechanics and my arm slot," he said after his last start. "Hopefully, my next start, I will come with a better arm slot and a better feeling."

If he does, that could spell trouble for the Braves, especially if Zambrano has made two consecutive quality starts while "fighting his mechanics." The big right-hander is 9-6 with a 4.46 ERA in 23 starts, but it was worse than that before August, during which he has gone 2-0 with a 3.00 ERA.

Zambrano went 2-4 in June and July with a 5.13 ERA. The three-time All-Star has completed at least six innings in 11 of his last 13 starts, and he's 2-4 with a 5.43 ERA in 12 career starts against Atlanta. The Cubs have won three straight series for the first time all year, lending more urgency to Zambrano's start.

Helped Dan Uggla out a lot though. Got his average up to .231. If he can have a solid month of September he can get back to his career averages, which are,

.259 AVG 33 HR and 95 RBI.

33 HRs is his career high, which he hit last season, which is why he got a shiny new contract with the Braves. He should get over that, as long as he doesn't have a post-streak slump.

I looked it up on baseball reference, it says his career average for HR is 33.

no I know it does, go back and check his career high. It doesn't make any sense. I know his career high is 33 also.

30.2 is his career average. I am just going to start using ESPN. They have really done well with this new updated stats thing.
