D-Backs get Marquis from Nats
The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired pitcher Jason Marquis from the Washington Nationals, the teams announced Saturday.
Marquis is 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA in 20 starts for Washington and has allowed eight home runs. The Diamondbacks will assume the remaining $2.47 million of his contract.
The Nationals get minor league infielder Zach Walters, who was a ninth-round pick in the 2010 draft. He is batting .302 with a .377 on-base percentage and .485 slugging percentage for Class A South Bend in the Midwestern League. Walters has played 49 games at shortstop, but has also played second base and third base.
Marquis' career record is 104-97 with a 4.52 ERA, and he pitched for Atlanta, St. Louis, Colorado and Chicago prior to Washington.
