Arizona Diamondbacks' Augie Ojeda remains a big hit with fans

Just because he isn't in the everyday lineup doesn't mean Diamondbacks fans don't go gaga for Augie Ojeda.

In Monday's season opener, he received one of the loudest ovations when he was introduced before the game.

"Yeah, even Webby joked about that with me," Ojeda said of pitcher Brandon Webb, who opened the season on the disabled list. "He goes, 'Hey, you got a louder cheer than I did.' I said, 'Hey man, you've gotta play. You haven't played for the last year and a half."

When Ojeda plays, or even just comes off the bench to pinch-hit, Chase Field always breaks into a chorus chanting his name. Ojeda said he loves it and that it only motivates him to do well.

"It's great and the fans have been wonderful," the utility player said. "It helps a player out when they're like that. I've seen teammates get booed at home and that's tough to see. When the fans cheer for me, it just makes me go out there and play as hard as I can."
