DURBAN, South Africa—After six hours of Executive Board meetings and leading up to the 123rd International Olympic Committee Session, IOC President Jacques Rogue headed a press conference last night where he announced that eight sports would be put under evaluation for possible inclusion onto the Summer Programme of the 2020 Olympic Games.

Baseball, Karate, roller sports, softball, sports climbing, squash, wakeboard and wushu were among the sports shortlisted, while bowling, dance, netball and surfing were cut from the initial list of 12 sports.

Chinese Taipei 2 – 6 Cuba
Cuba denied host Chinese Taipei a perfect start into the tournament, as they celebrated a 6-2 victory. It was a close game until the sixth inning, when Cuba pulled away with four runs. 2,500 were in attendance to see the opening ceremony at Tien-Mou and the following match, easily the biggest crowd of the day.

A great danger exists for the baseball and softball in Chile.

A government project, the Citizenship Park, threatens to destroy the only four baseball diamonds that exist in Santiago de Chile, in the National Stadium.
The Chilean Baseball and Softball Federation is trying to stop the project because if it goes on, players will not have where to play in the capital city.

Japan 5 – 4 Brazil
Japan needed a walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth to take down Brazil 5-4 in the first game at Tien-Mou on Saturday. Brazil had tied the game three times earlier in the game, but haven’t the opportunity to answer after the decisive hit.
