What should the Bluejays do this offseason?
I know it is early too talk about the offseason but the Bluejays will not make the playoffs this year. This is my idea of what I think we need to do in order to be successful
Pitchers we should have for next season in this order
1. Roy Halladay
2. A.J. Burnett
3. Gustavo Chacin (Hopefully he can pitch liked he did 2006 season)
4. Shaun Marcum
5. Dustin McGowan
6. Jesse Litsch/Josh Towers (Extra starters whoever plays better gets start)
Bullpen Pitcher Right Handers
1. Jason Frasor
2. Casey Janssen
3. Josh Towers
4. Ty Taubenheim
5. Brandon League (give him a chance to prove himself)
Bullpen Pitcher Left Handers
1. Brian Tallet
2. Davis Romero
3. Scott Downs
Bluejays need to get more left handers in the bullpen.
Closer
1. B.J Ryan
2. Jeremy Accardo
need a third closer as B.J was injured most of this season meaning Jeremy Accardo took over the role but did not have a replacement for him when he needed a dayoff. If Ryan or Accardo gets injured then at least we have a backup closer.
Players
1. Veron Wells (hopefully he can have a more consistent at bat)
2. Alex Rios (Outfield)
3. Matt Stairs (Outfield)
4. Frank Thomas (DH)
5. John McDonald (Shortstop)
6. Troy Glaus (Third Baseman)
7. Vernon Wells (Outfield)
8. Gregg Zauns (Cathcer)
9. Curtis Thighpen (Catcher)
10. Lyle Overbay (First Basemen)
These are the players so far that I would like to keep in the Toronto organization and in the off-season market I would like to have one or two consistent batters. We need someone who can hit the ball consistently as this is what we lacked this season which caused the team too lose games they should have won.
