Default Lind's blast lifts Jays over Yanks

NEW YORK -- Blue Jays fans can now officially wait till next year. Toronto finished up its 2006 season with a 7-5 win over New York in front of 54,886 on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Jays rookie Adam Lind belted a two-run home run off Yankees reliever Kyle Farnsworth to straightaway center field, breaking a tie in the ninth inning. That enabled Toronto (87-75) to finish the year with its best record since winning 88 games in 1998.

The Jays struck first, scoring three runs on Yankees starter Jaret Wright in the third inning. Shortstop John McDonald opened the rally with a single to right field and later scored on a base hit by Lind. Later in the frame, Lyle Overbay and Aaron Hill each chipped in run-scoring hits.
