If the Blue Jays intend to drive past the Boston Red Sox and into second place, they'll have to accomplish it without Roy Halladay.
Halladay, who left Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees in the fourth inning with a strained right forearm, is gone for the season. It was unlikely Halladay would return, but yesterday general manager J.P. Ricciardi made it official.
"He's done for the year," Ricciardi said.
"There's no need for him to try and go back out there. It's the right thing to do, it's the right thing for him to do."
Tests on Halladay yesterday showed there was no ligament or structural damage, that the injury was the same as the one that caused him to miss a start back in April.
