That was the hope coming into this season and that'll be the hope once again next season I'm sure. As of right now, there are only three starters -- Roy Halladay, Burnett and Chacin -- that appear to be a lock for the rotation for 2007. Pitching will be the key to any success the Blue Jays might have and it's those last two spots of the rotation that will probably make the difference.

Prior to Blue Jays owner Ted Rogers' statement about increasing payroll for next year, Toronto had roughly $12.5 million in spending money for this coming offseason. Now, it's still unknown how much higher that figure might go, but you can bet that acquiring a No. 3-4 starter will be on the agenda.

i dont think that the jays can win the al east b/c of the payroll of the yankees....maybe if something is done about that then we can talk but until something is done, i dont see the jays winning the division....

yea agree with you but, it will be close if the jays make good moves in the offseason. if not division then they will certainly compete for the wild card

It will always be tough and the team still has few holes to fill but this season was a step in the right direction.

The offseason has way to many questions to be answered before anyone can really say anything about the playoffs but I think they've got a better shot next year then they did this year.
