In hindsight, the famous dust-up with Jays manager John Gibbons in a dugout tunnel back on Aug. 21 may yet prove to be the turning point of Ted Lilly's major-league career.
The Jays left-hander, soon to be a free agent, has rebounded from the controversial mano-a-manager scuffle to go 4-1 with a 3.52 ERA in five starts, asserting himself as one of the top off-season catches in a run-of-the-mill free agent year for pitchers.
"I don't think it's going to help me thinking about what's going to happen next year while I'm out there still pitching and I've still got games to play," Lilly said, following his 6-1 victory over the Devil Rays. "I'll be better off if I just enjoy this (win) and then prepare for my next start."
