The Ted Lilly money train is picking up steam.

A free agent at the end of the season, you can almost hear the cash register clang every time Lilly punches up a victory.

Lilly yesterday won his third consecutive game and his fourth in five outings as he pitched the Jays to a 6-1 victory over the slumping Devil Rays.

With the win, Lilly upped his season record to 14-12 and has two remaining starts before he sits in his easy chair in the off-season and waits for the phone to start ringing. He shouldn't be waiting for long.

Lilly always looks good during contract years. It's too bad the Jays couldn't get anything for him because he'll certainly be missed for the 10 good games he pitches a season.

I'm betting he ends up with the Reds or Red Soxs.
