The Kansas City, Mo., native worked six innings to win for the first time in six starts as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Kansas City Royals 6-3 on Friday.
"It's nice to beat your hometown team," said the 24-year-old Marcum. "I wish them the best of luck. I've always been a Royals fan my whole life so to beat them is pretty special. I'm sure everybody back home was watching. I'm sure I'll have a lot of phone calls soon."
Troy Glaus sparked the Toronto offence, driving in two runs with career hit 1,000.
