TORONTO -- The crowd inside the Rogers Centre let out a loud round of boos as Blue Jays manager John Gibbons strolled out to the mound to talk to starter A.J. Burnett in the seventh inning on Tuesday night. The reaction came a day after the manager got into a heated confrontation on the mound with pitcher Ted Lilly.
This time, Gibbons wasn't pulling his starter from the game, though. Instead, he was seeing if Burnett wanted to continue after a line drive up the middle bounced off his glove -- nearly hitting his arm. The right-hander stayed in the game for one more batter and picked up the win in Toronto's 4-3 victory over Oakland.
