BALTIMORE -- Edinson Volquez is not joining the Rangers right now.
Volquez was supposed to start Tuesday against the Orioles but was scratched because he broke a team rule. John Rheinecker will pitch instead, and Kameron Loe will likely stay in the rotation and pitch Thursday against the Seattle Mariners.
Kason Gabbard is now scheduled for Wednesday against the Orioles.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said Volquez is not being called up from Triple-A Oklahoma because he missed a scheduled side throwing session before the RedHawks game with New Orleans on Sunday.
"A lot of the program we put in place for him was not only for on the field but off-field as well," Daniels said. "Being professional and accountable. We're trying to hold him to a high standard. We explained to him why we weren't calling him up, and he was remorseful and apologetic to his teammates."

Good. I think if your too lazy to show up for a practice but the rest of your teammates do show up, then you shouldn't be rewarded by getting a free ride to the Majors like that. Good call on the Rangers part here.
