Default Carl Crawford Injured

Quote:
NEW YORK -- Carl Crawford left the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees with a sprained left ankle.

The Rays' All-Star left fielder said X-rays were negative and that he did not expect a prolonged problem.

"Nah, I don't think I'm going to be on the DL or nothing like that," Crawford said. "It isn't even really swelled up. It's just sore."

Crawford's status is listed as day-to-day, but he said he would probably be ready to play by Tuesday at Baltimore.

He suffered the injury while beating out an infield single in the third inning.

"I saw the tape and it looked like I hit the side of the base and it kind of jammed my foot," Crawford said.
