ST. PETERSBURG -- For the second consecutive year, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays have significantly increased the number of dates on the team's promotion schedule. The Rays 2007 promotion schedule features 37 dates, almost twice as many as last year and nearly four times as many as the 2005 schedule.
We've not only expanded this year's schedule but also placed an emphasis on weekend games, particularly kid- oriented promotional items," said Rays President Matt Silverman.
This season's schedule includes a giveaway for the first 7,500 kids 14 and under at every Sunday home game including Rays Baseball Glove Day on May 20 vs. the Florida Marlins; Rays Cap Day on April 22 vs. the Cleveland Indians; Rays Backpack Day on June 24 vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers; Carl Crawford Action Figure on July 29 vs. Boston Red Sox; Rays Lunch Box Day on Aug. 5 vs. the Baltimore Orioles; Raymond Piggy Bank Day on Aug. 26 vs. the Oakland Athletics and Rays Wiffle Ball Set Day on Sept. 23 vs. the Boston Red Sox.
Among the other items on the schedule are a Tropicana Field replica to the first 12,000 fans on Saturday, April 7 vs. the Toronto Blue Jays; a Don Zimmer Turn Back the Clock bobblehead to the first 15,000 fans on Saturday, June 23 vs. the Dodgers; Akinori Iwamura Thunderstix to the first 7,500 fans on Thursday, June 14 vs. the San Diego Padres and separate figurine giveaways featuring Rocco Baldelli and Delmon Young. The first 10,000 fans at the Rays Aug. 4 games against Baltimore will receive Scott Kazmir's baseball card with a piece of his game-used jersey attached.
