When Damon Hollins was 20 years old, he played his first season for Double-A Greenville, with the Atlanta Braves organization. It was 1995.

A decade later, the unheralded outfielder - a fourth-round draft pick in 1992 - finally had more than a cup of coffee in the big leagues when he spent most of 2005 with the Devil Rays as a 30-year-old rookie.

His story is one of perseverance. If he learned anything playing 1,341 minor-league games, it was patience.
