Yeah sounded pretty good at times..
St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Chris Carpenter, who hasn't thrown in a big league game since April, 2007, threw four scoreless innings in his first minor league rehab start since having season ending Tommy John surgery on his right elbow last July. Carpenter got a standing ovation from the crowd at Hammons Field when he walked from the dugout to the clubhouse after finishing his outing. He threw 62 pitches, 33 were strikes. He allowed one hit, walked four and struck out four. Carpenter says he was disappointed with his command, but felt no pain.

Carpenter has mixed results in rehab
Double-A outing yields one hit, four walks over four frames
By Lee Hurwitz / MLB.com
Quote:
"We'll see how it feels tomorrow morning when I wake up," Carpenter said. "I was just happy to get back out there and compete again."
Carpenter threw 62 pitches over his four innings -- around the number the club was looking for -- but only 33 landed for strikes. Though he was disappointed with his command, his fastball topped out around 92 mph, according to the radar gun in right field, and his breaking balls possessed wicked movement that kept his opponents missing.
"He said he was fighting himself a little bit, cutting off a little bit and was a little too strong, which is expected in that situation," manager Ron "Pop" Warner added. "But he said he felt healthy, arm felt great and that's what we were looking for. I didn't expect him to come on out and be dead on perfect with his command."

LaRussa on Carpenter last night
Mets on Friday:
"I would say it's 50-50"
"We gotta do whats right and he probably he shouldnt be there"
- I would guess he'll start Friday for Memphis and Wednesday then he might be with us.. I dont know what Tony was thinking.. no reason to rush him when even Carpenter doesnt think he's ready.
