Red, white and ... boo?

The Chicago Cubs' Jim Edmonds has fans on their feet in Chicago.
A Chicago Cubs-Cardinals game on July 4 in St. Louis has enough potential for fireworks. But add the return of longtime Cardinals star Jim Edmonds, and the matchup tonight becomes one of the most anticipated here in years.
Will Cardinals fans cheer Edmonds for the eight years, 241 homers and six Gold Gloves he gave them? Or will they resent him for reappearing in a blue Cubs warmup jersey?
"We've got a little red in there," noted Chicago manager Lou Piniella, pointing to the Cubs' logo on his shirt.
"I'm scared," Edmonds said the other day in Chicago. "I'm sure my heart is going to be pounding. Obviously, I'm concerned about the reaction. But it's not going to make or break my year.
"I feel bad and I think it's a little ridiculous that people are making such a big deal out of this. This is just a place of employment. It isn't anything other than that. I haven't changed my feelings toward the city where I spent the last eight years of my life. I've always considered that home, other than being in California.
"I feel bad that people are torn because I'm a Cub. I think that's kind of silly. If you get fired from Chevy, then you don't work for Ford? These people called me. What was I supposed to do? Stay home?"
Edmonds is steeled for the worst, though chances are he'll get mostly the best from the Busch Stadium house for tonight's 7:15 game.
"I've been booed before," he said. "I just hope people will appreciate what I did there and how much I love the city and still do.''
