WAINWRIGHT PLAN
Adam Wainwright will meet with team doctors Monday to have his sprained finger examined. His hope is that the ruptured pulley in his finger will have healed enough for him to begin throwing, with an eye on a return shortly after the All-Star break. "If the joints are loosened up by that time (Monday), I should be able to start throwing," he said. "That's what they tell me."
Wainwright injured his right middle finger on June 7. He had his splint removed Friday and has begun exercises that include squeezing a soft ball. He has continued to strengthen and work his shoulder and legs with the plan of being able to pitch once the "one stinking little finger" is healthy. Said Wainwright about his return: "Maybe I'll have a new curveball snapping muscle in there."
