Molina removed on stretcher in neck brace

Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina was taken to a local hospital to be checked for neck and back injuries after a collision at home plate in the ninth inning of Sunday's game, according to Cardinals officials.
With the score tied, 6-6, in the ninth, Molina backhanded a throw from first baseman Chris Duncan, turning his back to Philadelphia runner Eric Bruntlett. As Molina reached back to tag Bruntlett, the runner crashed into Molina, sending the catcher forward and to the ground. He stirred enough to hold up the ball and then was surrounded by teammates and medical personnel.
Molina was fitted with a cervical collar and placed on a backboard on the field, and then taken via cart to a waiting ambulance.
